  Bettie J. Girling

Bettie Joyce Girling passed away at age 86 on July 20, 2016 in Austin. In 1968, Bettie and her husband Robert began Girling Health Care in their bedroom office with a secondhand student desk and over 40 years grew it to a multi-million dollar enterprise providing home care, home health, and hospice services to private pay, Medicare and Medicaid clients throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, New York and many others.

They were pioneers in home health in Texas, and Girling was a founding member of the Texas Association of Home Health Agencies (now TAHC&H).  Mr. Girling served as President of the Association from 1984-1986, and he and Bettie were honored with TAHC&H’s prestigious Ida Mae Hebert meritorious award in 1994.  Robert passed away in 2013.

While the Girlings retired and sold their business in 2007, the name continues to represent leadership and quality in home care and hospice.  Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Girling family. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday July 23, 2016 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Austin Symphony or to a charity of choice.  An obituary and memorial guestbook are available online at this link.
