Who should attend? All levels of employees of TAHCH member agencies - nurses, therapists, administrators and executives - who want to be more involved in industry advocacy efforts or improve outreach at their agency. Associate members -consultants, technology professionals, attorneys & financial experts- are welcome to join as well.

8:30am-8:45am: Check-in
Pick up the morning's materials and grab a coffee & pastry. All materials needed are provided by TAHCH.
8:45am-9:45am: Panel discussion: Being effective in legislative visits
Learn what legislative offices want to know about your agency (and how to deliver the message). Discuss with the most seasoned TAHCH advocates the best practices of conveying policy talking points, using personal stories & data from your agency, and making an ask of a legislative office. Participants: TAHCH members and TAHCH staff
9:45am-10:30am: Political basics you need to know
TAHCH staff will review the most important aspects of the legislative processes for US Congress & the Texas Legislature, discuss the TAHCH government relations program, and examine our membership's policy priorities.
10:30am-10:45am: Break
10:45am-11:30am: Strategies for building relationships with lawmakers
Now that you can easily have an introductory legislative visits, get insights on developing legislative relationships over time through campaign involvement, community outreach and social media.
11:30am-12:30pm: Dynamics of the next Texas legislature
Listen as we anticipate the political dynamics and policy priorities of Texas leadership in healthcare and beyond. We will also review state interim charges and play a video message from Texas State Senator Donna Campbell.
