Face-to-Face – Is Your Home Health Agency at Risk of Audit and Claims Denials?
Recording Available Here [MEMBERS ONLY]
Many home health agencies have expressed relief that, effective 01/01/15, CMS mostly eliminated the narrative component of the face-to-face (F2F) requirement. As most agencies across the country readily understand, the narrative rule was hopelessly vague and not interpreted or applied consistently by the Medicare contractors. Unfortunately, the latest version of the F2F regulation may not afford agencies the relief from improper claim denials that they have been hoping for. This webinar will discuss the F2F risks now facing your agency and ways that you can reduce those risks. Non Members -Register:   Print out this brochure and fax to (512) 338-9496; Attn: Katie Mills

Employer Scrutiny and Screening for Current and New Employees and Providers
Recording Available Here [MEMBERS ONLY]
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) has released guidance regarding how home health, hospices, personal care agencies (and other health care providers participating in Medicare and / or Medicaid) must handle mandatory exclusion screening procedures. This guidance has dramatically transformed exclusion screening from a simple, annual check to a thorough monthly screening obligation that includes mandatory checks of all employees, contractors, and vendors. Last year, OIG screening audits greatly intensified. In this webinar, attorneys Paul Weidenfeld and Robert W. Liles will discuss the importance of exclusion screening, how to screen and which exact databases must be screened – according to both federal and state regulations, how often and which employees providers must screen, and how providers must document their exclusion screening efforts in order to comply with the law. . This webinar will discuss the current revocation actions being pursued by the government how your agency can reduce its risk of being subjected to such an adverse action. Value-Based Purchasing – Where Does Your Home Health and / or Hospice Fit Into Delivery System Reform.

Medicare is moving rapidly from fee for service payments to payment based on quality. Through such mechanisms as ACOs, penalties on hospital re-admissions, other value based purchasing initiatives and pilot projects initiated through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovations, the program is placing payment incentives for care that is based on quality and not quantity. Many state Medicaid programs and private insurers are following suit. Recording Available Here [MEMBERS ONLY}
Many health care organizations discover issues within their systems or agencies that they believe may potentially run afoul of the myriad of regulatory prohibitions, including those that may constitute fraud and abuse. The OIG has developed a formal program under which organizations that discover such violations can voluntarily report these issues and potentially receive reduced penalties. Similarly CMS has developed a mechanism to formally disclose Stark violations.
