"Meeting with a Congressional office was a great learning experience for my staff. I urge you to go to your legislator's offices, take your staff with you, and let them be part of the process. It was very gratifying to see the enthusiasm and "awe" in their faces as a result of their experiences. The more of us there are, the stronger the message and the louder the voice!"

Advocacy in Action

For nearly 50 years, the Texas Association for Home Care & Hospice's political advocacy efforts have ensured that its members have a strong voice in state and federal levels of government. We work with our lobbyist team, membership committees, grassroot advocates, and the Texas Homecare & Hospice PAC to affect change on diverse industry issues in Austin and Washington, DC.

March on Washington 2018
Even in the middle of the 4th Nor’easter to hit the East coast, 22 fellow home care and hospice agency members accomplished over 30 legislative visits in Washington DC advocating for issues important to home health and hospice. Home health and hospice agency advocates discussed the importance of fixing the rural add on phase out, hospice issues such as payment reform and opioid disposal legislation and other items such as home health payment reform that recently passed in the Bipartisan Budget Act (2018).

We have some great follow up opportunities with Congress as well as HHS to address the aforementioned issues along with items related to the ongoing F2F (Face to Face) denials suffered by agencies through the audit process.  As we move through the 115th Congress, your colleagues have paved the way for future legislation and policy changes aimed at ensuring home health and hospice agencies remain viable and can deliver quality services to patients.

During March on Washington, TAHC&H also hosted a Virtual Lobby day for our members here in Texas. We had over 140 individuals participate in this event by calling or emailing their Representatives.

March on Washington is an opportunity to advocate together, as one voice, for our industry. We look forward to your participation in MOW 2019!
